Photo: NHL 11 Rangers "fans Cheer in Streets" getting Wolski for Rozi

In response to the last post where @mug25 ran NY proposed the deal to PHX and it was rejected, @LundqvistSaves ran it and reverse and without any shock the NY management accepted saying "The fans are going to be cheering in the streets when we announce this deal. I'll take deals like this any day of the week."

In a bit of hilariousness brought to you from @mug25 he ran today's trade of Rozi for Wolski through the trade machine and it got rejected saying, "We here in the PHX Yotes organization take trading seriously. It seems you aren't. You are not even close to offering us fair value for what you are asking for"

Petr Prucha to KHL?

Jim McIsaac/Getty Images
Earlier this week when it was announced that Petr Prucha was put on re-entry waivers by the Phoenix Coyotes I looked at whether it made sense for him to come back here as a low-risk gamble.  It turns out the team did not think so and neither did any other NHL team as Prucha cleared re-entry waivers.  When he cleared the Coyotes left him in the AHL with the San Antonio Rampage.

Now according to both Dmitry Chesnokov of Puck Daddy and Laurie Carr of Beyond the Blueshirts there are reports out that Prucha is negotiating with SKA St. Petersburg.  If you speak Czech the original source of the story is an iDNES.cz story which has SKA coach Vaclav Sykora suggesting the linkage.

For many fans of Prucha’s this is distressing news to see that he is not getting another chance in the NHL to try and regain the form he had his first few seasons.  There is obviously a level of hockey skill remaining in Prucha as while he has struggled at the NHL level this season he does have 8 goals and 12 assists in just 18 games in the AHL.  A move to the KHL could signal the end of Prucha’s time in the NHL or it could allow him to show at another professional level that the skill is still there and get him another chance in the NHL down the line.  Either way I want to wish Prucha the best for the energy and effort he plays the game with makes all those that watch him hope for his success.

Video: Kyle Turris Toe-Tapping Shootout Winner

Last week it was Linus Omark making a splash in the shootout and tonight it was Kyle Turris of the Phoenix Coyotes top tapping his way to a shootout victory against the hapless New York Islanders. The play off the skate was pivotal to the move if you watch the goaltender react, move slightly towards to opposite post and drop the glove which is where Turris would put the shot. Turris took the puck from the circle skated in bounced the puck off his skate and then fired it in against a helpless Nathan Lawson to seal the victory. Guess everyone wants to kick the Islanders while they are down.

No one should forget that Paul Bissonette aka @BizNasty2point0 taught Turris this move as he told Todd Walsh here.

Coyotes Sign Amateur Fenton To Back Up In Emergency Scenario Against Rangers

If you started today having no idea who Tom Fenton was, then join the club, but by the end of Thursday he will be one of the most researched names in the world for this day at least.  Tom Fenton, who works in the community relations department at Manhattanville College in Purchase, N.Y. would sign a pro contract with the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday to be their backup goaltender when they took on the Rangers in Madison Square Garden Thursday night.

The reason the  Coyotes had to do something like this was their regular starting goaltender Ilya Bryzgalov came down with the flu and being that they were on the east coast and had no chance to fly in a call up from their system they needed someone who was local and that all leads to Tom Fenton.

Tom Fenton a 26 year old who never turned pro, which made him eligible for this kind of move and played four years of hockey at American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts with his final season coming in 2008-09. In that final year Fenton compiled a 1-12-1 record, a 3.60 goals-against average and .886 save percentage as a senior.  Having not played an organized game since he would spend the night sitting on the bench in an NHL uniform, what a change a few hours can make.

Fenton would not see any action in the game, but he would see plenty of cameras and interviews asking him about the world wind day he had been through.  What a day for Tom Fenton.  Just goes to show anything can happen.
