Sean Avery Arrested on Charge of Battery Against Police Officer

Sean Avery’s standing on the New York Rangers roster just got even murkier as he was arrested in California early Friday morning, according to NBC

Jesse Spector of the New York Daily News tweets that the LAPD has confirmed the arrest of Avery and that he was charged with battery against a peace officer, and that the Rangers’ forward is currently still in jail.

The altercation allegedly happened last night when police responded to noise complaints at Avery’s home in Hollywood around 1 am.  Avery is accused of shoving the police officer and slamming the door.  Avery would then open the door a second time and was much more cooperative with the officer, but the damage had already been done and the arrest was made.
