Wolski Out Four Weeks

The New York Rangers announced today that left wing, Wojtek Wolski will be out for four weeks with a sports hernia.  He will undergo surgery tomorrow in Philadelphia.

According to the press release, when Wolski returns, he will be playing his 400th NHL game. 

Wolski has 2 assists this season in six appearances and is 9 goals away from his 100th career NHL goal.

Rangers Lose Martin Biron To Broken Collarbone, Talbot Recalled

With everyone focused on the trade deadline today and the lack of fireworks that ended up being for the most part, we all lost sight of New York Rangers practice which will clearly go down as the bigger story.  Per Andrew Gross the Rangers have lost backup goaltender Martin Biron indefinitely to a broken collarbone that he suffered during practice today.  In his place the team has called up Cameron Talbot, who is just coming off his own high ankle sprain, to really warm the bench behind Henrik Lundqvist.

This is a huge blow to the Rangers because not only has Biron been a more than capable backup with 8-6 record, 2.13 goals against average and .923 save percentage.  Beyond just the numbers, Biron has been very important to the plan of getting Henrik Lundqvist more rest so that they did not wear him out down the stretch and with him likely out for the rest of the regular season it means Lundqvist is likely to play all but one or two games the rest of the way.

According to Andrew Gross Sather did attempt to make a move for a backup goalie before the deadline, but the cost was too high.

“Sather says price to acquire another veteran backup was pretty high. Thinks backup will only play 1 or 2 games rest of the season.”

Dylan McIlrath Injures Knee (No Official Diagnosis/Prognosis Yet)

According to Jess Rubenstein of TheProspectPark, via Gregg Drinnan's tip, last night during the Moose Jaw Warriors against the Lethbriidge Hurricanes, 2010 1st round pick Dylan McIlrath went down with a knee injury in which no official diagnosis is available at this time, but initial indications are not good and an MRI will be performed today, Sunday.  Obviously any injury to McIlrath would be bad news for him, Moose Jaw and the New York Rangers and it is too early to speculate until we get the results of the testing so let us hope it is on lower scale of what it could be.  This would be the 4th major injury (Yogan, shoulder; McNaught, ankle; Maggio, upper body) to a Rangers prospect in Juniors, fifth if you count Dale Weise, hand/wrist in Hartford.

TheProspectpark Some bad news out of Moose Jaw Dylan McIlrath went down with a knee injury, severity at this time is unknown but 1st reports say not good

After a slow start to the season, both Dylan and his Moose Jaw Warriors had really picked up their games of late with Moose Jaw getting to 11-9-0-1 on the season and McIrath sitting at 2G 5A in 20 games with a -4 rating.  We will keep an eye out for any updates and bring them to you as soon as we see them.

Update 4:52 PM:   TheProspectpark Latest word from Moose Jaw is they still do nto have an exact answer but report Dylan in good spirits and hopeful he will not be out long

We certainly hope that Dylan is right about that being the case. 

Anisimov, Rozsival Injury Updates

It is being reported by everyone that the injury to Artem Anisimov was to his right ankle and he sustained it during the second period blocking a shot.  Artem tried playing through the pain for the rest of the period but it became worse and worse so they took him out for the rest of the game.  He is said to be getting an MRI on the ankle tomorrow, but was limping after the game.  Will see what the update is tomorrow and in the coming days, but as of now I wouldnt bank on him being there Friday vs Carolina.

On Rozsival who missed the last minutes of the 3rd the injury was to his knee and called a hyper-extension but not considered to be too serious and Tortorella seemed to suggest he should be in there Friday.  Will look out for anything new on this tomorrow as well.
