The NHL has officially pushed the start of tomorrow's Winter Classic game between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers back to 3 p.m. after being scheduled for 1 p.m. Former Ranger, and current Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations for NHL's central office in Toronto, Kris King announced during the coverage of Rangers practice that the move to a later start was to give the game better ice with lower temperatures and to limit some of the glare issues the early start would have caused.
This move follows a similar decision for the Alumni game yesterday and is the right one by the league. The move also allows the league to start the game during sunlight hours and finish under the lights.
