New York Rangers defenseman Michael Sauer took a vicious, clean hit from Dion Phaneuf of the Toronto Maple Leafs Monday night during the third period. After no update yesterday, Rangers coach John Tortorella confirmed that Sauer did in fact suffer a concussion. Sauer is currently listed as day-to-day, but would seem highly unlikely to go tomorrow against Tampa Bay.
If Sauer cannot play tomorrow it will leave the Rangers with a very suspect bottom four on defense. The bottom two pairs would likely see Del Zotto paired with Eminger and Woywitka playing with Stralman.
